2018/2019 Committee Members

  • Committee Chair - Kris Griffith

The International Committee has the following goals:

1.  To financially support and take on a lead role in promoting the South African based Imagine Scholar Program to Rotary Clubs in the Pacific Northwest.  Imagine Scholar is a tutoring/mentoring program that challenges grade school students to be prepared for and succeed in University.  If youth truly are a nations' future - Imagine Scholar seeks to make that future as bright as possible.

2.  To support the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club's Project Antigua with funds and personnel (sending someone or persons from RCKD to visit the site).  Project Antigua provides computers and hard cover dictionaries to schools on Antigua.  Associated with Project Antigua is a sewing project that seeks to teach/train island women skills in sewing and clothes making.  It is our hope that teaching a sustainable life skill will help women break the cycles of poverty and become business women in their own right, taking care of themselves and contributing to their communities.  RCKD is involved directly with the sewing project portion of Project Antigua.

Here are a few pictures from the Antigua trip!

1.   Jan Martinka and Kay Zatine and the students after Jan and Kay gave dictionaries to every student in a 3rd grade classroom.

2.   A sewing center that was set up in New Winthorpes.

3.   After just two days of sewing lessons a very proud student.
